Why not pass a Constitutional amendment banning alcohol consumption?

Concern by Eric S: Why not pass a Constitutional change prohibiting alcohol consumption?
I think alcohol use in America is detrimental to financial development in this economy, specifically in war times with terrorism overseas.

If we passed a constitutional change ratified by the states that prohibits the sale, purchase, consumption, possession, and trafficking of alcoholic drinks, with charges of prison or fine not to exceed 15 years jail prosecutory sentence
Why not?

Eric, good intentions, but will get you no where.

Besides what everyone else said, we had Prohibition and all it did was take tax revenue away that would be generated by the sale of Alcohol.

And, how many other Laws do we have that are not enforced?

Marijuana, and other drugs? Against the law, but still prevalent.
Immigration? It’s against the law to enter our country without proper documentation, but there’s 10’s of millions here breaking the law and no enforcement.

So adding another law, that cannot be enforced will do no good whatsoever.

    Sorry to burst your bubble.
